When Jen returned to her plot of land, she didn’t expect the scarecrow to be off his tree and moving around, checking the plants. She hesitated, wondering if she should greet him or leave him be. While lost in her conflicting thoughts, he made the decision for her.

“Welcome home, little gardener!”

Her heart leaped at the sudden attention. “A-Ah, hello…”

“You’re doing well on the garden, I’m impressed!”

She rubbed the back of her neck. “I haven’t really done anything… I don’t know much about gardening.”

“Nonsense!” he smiled brightly. “You clearly love to garden, the plants sing of your praise!”

‘Another sim that speaks to plants? Is this a common thing?’, A bead of nervous sweat rolled down her cheek and she cleared her throat. “I don’t mind gardening, but I certainly don’t love it. I’m only doing it because I have to.”

His face immediately dropped and he was silent for a few moments. “You… don’t like gardening?”

“Nope,” she immediately regretted her words as his mood changed. She just put her foot in her mouth as usual and now she’s feeling embarrassed. Why hadn’t she lied when she saw his initial reaction?

“And after I gave you advice,” he huffed in annoyance. “I thought we would get along, but I could never be friends with someone who hates to garden!”

“I-I never said I hate it,”

“Your tone said it all,” he swatted his hand through the air to show his annoyance.

She wanted to say something,Β anything to save the relationship, but her mind just went blank and her body followed suit. She could only frown as the scarecrow walked away, grumbling under his breath.
